Digital Public Library of America Primary Source sets
DPLA Primary Source Sets are designed to help students develop their critical thinking skills by exploring topics in history, literature, and culture through primary sources. Each set includes an overview, ten to fifteen primary sources, links to related resources, and a teaching guide. These sets were created and reviewed by the teachers on the DPLA’s Education Advisory Committee.

The Onondaga County Public Library’s GVRL Collection
The Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) is a collection of eBooks that includes encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. These materials once accessible only in hard copy are now available online from the library or remotely.  The link to the Baldwinsville Collection are titles available specifically to Baldwinsville patrons.  The OCPL collection are titles that are available to all libraries in the Onondaga County Public Library System.

Gale Infotrac Newsstand
InfoTrac Newsstand is a newspaper database which allows users to search articles by title, headline, date, newspaper section or other assigned fields.

Gannet Newsstand
Contains over 85 Gannett newspapers, 6 of which are New York newspapers. These include the Ithaca Journal, Poughkeepsie Journal, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Journal News (White Plains), Press and Sun-Bulletin (Binghamton) and Star-Gazette (Elmira).

Grey-House Directory of Resources for People with Disabilities
Links, program descriptions and application documents for state and federal programs for the disabled.  The user guide for this database may be downloaded here.

Includes millions of genealogy records, including Ship Manifests, Ellis Island records and US Census data.

Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center
It offers detailed “how-to” instructions and creative ideas to meet the interests of virtually every hobby enthusiast. Full text is provided from leading hobby and craft magazines, including Bead & Button, Birder’s World, Creative Knitting, FineScale Modeler, Quilter’s World, and many more.

Kids Infobits
contains over 100 age-appropriate magazines for grades K-5.

Kids Search
Is designed for students in grades K through 5. It provides an easy-to-use, graphically-appealing way for kids to search resources.  Kids Search includes: non-fiction books, animals, history, magazines and pictures.

Literary Reference Center
It is a full-text database that combines information from major respected reference works, books and literary journals, as well as original content from EBSCO Publishing.

Lynda.com is a collection of online courses and video tutorials to help you learn business, technical and creative skills.

Newsbank Infoweb 
A comprehensive news collection ideal for exploring issues and events at the local, regional, national and international level. Diverse source types include print and online-only newspapers, blogs, newswires, journals, broadcast transcripts and videos.
 
A subset of InfoTrac Newsstand, this database includes articles from newspapers from around New York State including: Glens Falls Post-StarNew York TimesNew York ObserverNew York Post, and Newsday.
New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation
Information on attractions throughout New York State.  Includes historic sites, nature centers, golf courses, and trails. 
 
This site from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation offers information on the New York State Tree Nursery program, the New York State Big Tree Registry, information on native plant species, and details of the state’s Open Space Conservation plan.

NIH Senior Health
The National Institute of Health’s website for senior citizens; includes articles and videos designed for use by the average person, and covering a variety of health topics.

Novelist Plus
Database covering more than 120,000 adult, teen and children’s fiction and non-fiction titles. Provides subject heading access, reviews, annotations, hundreds of theme-oriented book lists for readers at all grade levels, award-winning and recommended titles, read-alikes, book reviews and much more.

Old Time Radio from Archive.org
A collection of classic radio programs that have fallen into the public domain.  The collection includes Musical reviews, variety shows, science fiction, mysteries and westerns.

Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency
Information on waste disposal and recycling guidelines for residents of Onondaga County.  This website also includes seasonal information on topics such as Christmas Tree and yard waste disposal. 

Opposing Viewpoints
Contains a range of perspectives on many important issues, with over 13,000 pro/con viewpoints. Includes a variety of resource types: reference, news, primary sources, multimedia and more.

Oswego County Department of Solid Waste 
Waste disposal and recycling information for residents of Oswego County.  This website also includes information on where to purchase landfill stickers, yard waste drop-off sites and how to dispose of potentially hazardous materials. 

The P4 Antiques database provides descriptive information along with recently paid prices for antiques, collectibles, art and Americana sold at art auctions across the country. There also is a color photograph for each item listed.

Information on how to prepare for major weather events, flooding, power outages and other incidents.

Business and residential phone numbers, addresses, and other directory information, including reverse phone number lookups. The business directory offers advanced mode searching by yellow page heading, business SIC code, zip code, SMSA and more.

Searchasaurus
For kids up to grade 5 it includes magazine articles, newspaper articles, dictionary/encyclopedia entries, pictures and more on a variety of topics ranging from animals to history to stories. Lexile (reading) levels of the information found go up to Grade 5.

Syracuse Newspapers
A searchable archive of digital images of the Syracuse newspapers from 1857 forward. Coverage also includes more than 750 US cities and over 2000 US and international newspaper titles. Included in the collection is This collection includes full text and images of newspaper pages. Please note: The years and dates available are incomplete.
